Cecilia & Chris Surprise Proposal at Whiffin Spit in Sooke BC

Chris reached out to me hoping to plan a surprise proposal photo session somewhere beautiful in Sooke, BC, and with spots like Whiffin Spit, the choices were endless. They were visiting the Victoria area for a friend’s wedding, traveling all the way from Colorado, and I felt so honoured that Chris chose me as their Victoria BC engagement photographer to capture such a special moment.

We had the session planned down to every detail. The idea was simple but meaningful: I would photograph the scenery and their natural interactions while acting casual, and then capture the exact moment Chris popped the question. Whiffin Spit offered the perfect backdrop...sparkling water, calm tides, and stunning views across the spit. On the day of the shoot, people and dogs strolled along the trail, the salty sea breeze filled the air, and the sun bathed everything in warm golden light.

When Chris asked Cecilia to marry him, the joy was completely contagious. Cecilia’s eyes lit up, Chris’s smile widened, and their laughter rang out across the spit. Even with the summer heat, the energy between them made the session effortless and full of fun. Every glance, every smile, every little gesture between them was a moment I was thrilled to capture.

Being part of this surprise proposal at Whiffin Spit was such a privilege. Watching Cecilia and Chris celebrate their love surrounded by sparkling water and golden sunlight reminded me why I love photographing couples so much.
