Nicola and Alex’s engagement session at Cattle Point in Oak Bay was one of those evenings where everything just felt easy. The weather was calm, the light was soft, and the ocean was doing its thing in the background while we wandered along the shoreline.

If you’ve ever been to Cattle Point, you know how beautiful it is. The rocky shoreline, pieces of driftwood scattered along the beach, and the wide open views of the water make it such a perfect spot for photos. There’s something about that whole area that feels peaceful, especially in the evening when the light starts to get softer and everything slows down a bit.

Nicola and Alex were so comfortable together from the start. A lot of the session was just the two of them walking along the rocks, holding hands, laughing at each other, and stopping here and there whenever we found a spot that looked good. Some of my favourite moments were when they’d pause and just look out at the ocean together before turning back toward each other. Those little in between moments always end up being the best ones.

We spent most of the session exploring different parts of the shoreline. One minute we were walking through the driftwood, the next we were climbing over the rocks to get a slightly different view of the water. Cattle Point has so many little pockets that work well for photos, which makes it such a great place for engagement sessions.

By the end of the session the light was starting to dip lower and everything had that soft coastal glow. Nicola and Alex were still laughing and chatting the whole time, which made the entire evening feel relaxed and fun rather than posed or formal.

I always love engagement sessions like this because they give couples a chance to just hang out together while I quietly capture what their connection actually looks like. Nicola and Alex made that incredibly easy.

If you’re planning your own engagement session and love the idea of ocean views, rocky shorelines, and a relaxed evening wandering around somewhere beautiful, Cattle Point in Oak Bay is such a great spot.
